United Capital Fertilizer (UCF), a leading fertilizer manufacturer in Zambia, proudly served as the main sponsor of the 118th Annual Congress of the Zambia National Farmers Union (ZNFU). The event, held at the Mulungushi International Conference Center in Lusaka, brought together farmers from across Zambia to discuss the theme “Innovative Solutions for a Climate-Resilient Agriculture Sector.”

In his keynote address, His Excellency President Hakainde Hichilema emphasized the importance of adopting innovative farming practices to tackle the challenges of climate change and food insecurity. He encouraged farmers to embrace outgrower schemes, which facilitate knowledge sharing and collaboration between large-scale and smallholder farmers, ultimately boosting productivity across the sector.

President Hichilema also highlighted the critical role of technology, particularly irrigation, in improving resilience to climate variability. He warned that food insecurity equals national insecurity, stressing that sustainable solutions are necessary to ensure the country’s agricultural future.

As the main sponsor, UCF reaffirmed its commitment to Zambia’s agricultural development. The company plays a key role in providing high-quality fertilizers that help farmers increase crop yields and improve soil health. Through its partnership with the ZNFU and active involvement in such events, UCF continues to support Zambia’s efforts to build a more resilient and sustainable agricultural sector.

The 118th Annual Congress of the ZNFU was an important platform for addressing the challenges of climate change and food insecurity in Zambia. With the support of UCF and the leadership of President Hichilema, the congress underscored the need for innovative, collaborative, and sustainable approaches to agriculture. By embracing new technologies and practices, Zambia’s farming sector is well-positioned for a more secure and prosperous future.
