United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited (“UCF” or “the company”), located in Chilanga District, Zambia, is a vertically integrated fertilizer enterprise with capacity to supply up to 800,000 metric tons per year of  NPK and other customized granulated fertilizer blends.

UCF was incorporated on 23rd August 2021 to spearhead the establishment, construction and operationalisation of the first ever mega ultra-modern fertilizer plant in Zambia. The construction of the factory was officially launched by Her Honour the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs W.K. Mutale Nalumango, on 1st November 2021.

The company was established with the objective of localizing the manufacturing of urea, compound fertilizer, synthetic liquid ammonia and other fertilizer blends. 

During the construction period of the operationalimised and current construction projects, the project employed over 3,000 direct jobs, out of which 80% are youths. The NPK and other fertilizer blends plant now operational, has production capacity of 800000 metric tons per year with direct staff complment of 1600.

UCF is managed by an industry leading board of directors and experienced management team with extensive operations and commercial expertise.

As part of the company’s strategic plan, United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited is currently undertaking the  construction of the second fertilizer plant; an ultra-modern Ammonia plant and Urea fertilizer plant  at an investment cost of USD600 million. The construction stage of the plant has created over 2500 jobs and willl later create additiona1,800 direct jobs at the operation stage. Furthermore, the project will have a huge impact on the value chain as 100% of the raw materials will be sourced within Zambia and will seek to reduce the cost of fertilizer effectively. 

This will in turn usher in a new dawn in upscaling productivity in the agriculture sector in consonance with the regional governments’ aspiration and resolve to make Africa a food sufficient continent. The completion of this project will enable our region to have large-scale access to both NPK and Urea fertilizers produced locally within the region.
