United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited (“UCF” or “the company”), located in Chilanga District, Zambia, is a vertically integrated fertilizer enterprise with capacity to supply up to 300,000 metric tons per year of Urea, DAP, NPK and other customised blended fertilizers. 

UCF was incorporated on 23rd August 2021 to spearhead the establishment, construction and operationalisation of the first ever mega ultra-modern fertilizer plant in Zambia. The construction of the factory was officially launched by Her Honour the Vice President of the Republic of Zambia, Mrs W.K. Mutale Nalumango, on 1st November 2021. 

The company was established with the objective of localizing the manufacturing of urea, compound fertilizer, synthetic liquid ammonia and other blended fertilizers. During the construction period, the project employed over 500 direct jobs, of which 367 are youths. UCF is managed by an industry leading board of directors and experienced management team with extensive operations and commercial expertise.

As part of the company’s strategic plan, United Capital Fertilizer Zambia Company Limited has reached equity financial closure for the construction works for a second fertilizer plant, an ultra-modern Urea fertilizer and Ammonia plant at an investment cost of USD600 million. The construction stage of the plant shall create over 2500 jobs and later 1,800 direct jobs at the operation stage. Furthermore, the project will have a huge impact on the value chain as 100% of the raw materials will be sourced within Zambia and will seek to reduce the cost of fertilizer effectively. This will in turn usher in a new dawn in upscaling productivity in the agriculture sector in consonance with the government’s aspiration of making Zambia a food basket in the region. The completion of this project will enable our country to have large-scale access to both Compound D and Urea fertilizers produced locally.
